Re-arranging her room

The husband asked why I feel the need to always move furniture around. I've touched on this before in other posts, so you can see it is a common conversation in our house.

In the past I would rearrange a room when I was bored and felt like change. Although that is still a motivation to move things around but now its more complicated than that. Now, rearranging my house has more to do with control.

Since having the bub I have become aware of the weight of responsibility. Yes I had responsibilities before her, but not like this. Although I thoroughly enjoy being her Mama and we have a lot of fun together, I would be lying if I said I didn't have anxious moments.

I can't control when she gets sick. I can't control her life choices. I cant control how she will navigate her way through the tough times. (Yes Im worrying way too much about the future) BUT

I can control what my house looks like.

Sounds ridiculous. But its true. Its just a little creative outlet for me in a time of little control & a bit more time at home then Im used to.

Well not quite lift off...

It has been a long time since I last blogged. I started off with the best of intentions to blog each day... HA! Im definitely an all or nothing kinda girl.

I thought it was long overdue, so here I go again. Attempt number two.

The bub has grown. What a delight she is. She really is a happy bub. She smiles all day and cracks up laughing all the time. She finds it particularly funny when the husband puts his hands on his hips and jumps!!!??? She is a chilled out chicky and I look forward to watching her grow and flourish.

We managed to get back to the farm for a visit so the bub could meet her great grandparents. Pop going on 94 and Nan 87. What a treat! Precious times.

We started off in Newcastle (Ill have to do an entire post on Newy. Its a great city), flew to Qld then back down to Wollongong to see the hubby's family.

We walked by the beach, visited some great cafes and enjoyed the peace before coming back to the city.

Here are a few pics - and here's to me trying to blog more frequently!

Sydney's Chinese Gardens

Yes. My secret is out. I have succumbed to Instagram. And I love it!

Another secret of mine - I watch masterchef (Im such a cliche) every night & find myself not only inspired to cook new recipes, but also to visit some of their featured locations. For example, the Chinese Gardens in Sydney.

I have lived in Sydney for 11 years. Yet, I have never visited these gardens before. They are beautiful. A lovely way to spend an afternoon with the family.

I find myself doing new & wonderful things now that Olive has arrived. Partly because I am not working full time, so I have the energy to become a tourist in my own city. But mainly the husband & I are embracing the Sunday travel special. 2 adults & a child for $2.50 & you can travel on any bus, train or ferry all day.

So, we have begun our Sunday adventures. Hmmmm... perhaps that could be a new page for my blog. Interesting!?

After visiting gardens we went for lunch in Chinatown. The husband & I are get so flustered when the restaurant hostesses start yelling at you as you walk past.

"Yum cha here"... "good price"... "you want yum cha"...

We end up getting lured into the dodgiest, seediest restaurant that has tables full of caucasian customers (an alarm bell in itself) & this day was no exception.

Regardless of its exterior, the food was amazing.

Yes. A lovely Sunday indeed.

Home made Gnocchi

I was proud as punch when these little darlings worked out! Next time Ill make them bite size - these were a bit too much.

Accompanied with a basic tomato sauce.

Ohhhhh yeah!!!

We have lift off.

Whats with my title? The husband came up with it. We have lift off - as in my blog is finally up and running. Ive been wanting to blog for about a year now.

So here we are. It begins. May 2012.

The bub is finally down & now the negotiation begins.

The husband & I both fighting, I mean, conversing, over who should get first dibs on the computer.

Yes, I should be considerate & allow him to have it considering he is the one studying his Masters. But I say blogging (both writing & reading) is also extremely important!????

Okay, okay. Maybe not quite.

But I am extremely excited to have Olive Francesca up and running!

Time to relinquish the computer.

Night.
